Wed October 21, 2009 (CNN) -- Arizona police are looking for an Iraqi man who they allege ran down his daughter and her friend because he believed his daughter had become "too Westernized." Peoria, Arizona, police said Wednesday that Faleh Hassan Almaleki, 48, struck his 20-year-old daughter, Noor Faleh Almaleki, and her friend Amal Edan Khalaf with a vehicle he was driving in a parking lot Tuesday afternoon. Family: Anger Fueled Dad's Attack On Daughter
POSTED: 9:08 pm MST October 24, 2009 ![]() PHOENIX -- The family of a young woman run over in a Peoria parking lot is speaking out for the first time since Tuesday’s accident outside Department of Economic Security building. “I just never thought something like this could happen,” said Peter-Ali Almaleki, whose sister is still hospitalized, fighting for her life. Peoria police said Faleh Hassan Almaleki, 48, ran over his daughter Noor Almaleki, 20, and her friend, Amal Edan Khalef, a 43-year-old Surprise resident, as they walked out of the building at 89th and Peoria avenues. Peter-Ali Almaleki told CBS 5 News in an exclusive interview Saturday that for years his father and sister have been at odds. He said much of the conflict stems from his sister choosing to not follow in the family's Muslim traditions but he added he had no idea what led his father to run over his sister. Noor Almaleki is still unconscious, he said. “She's moving around a little but they think it's spontaneous movement,” Peter-Ali Almaleki said. He said his sister has undergone spinal surgery but there’s a chance she may never recover. “It's hurt my mom more than anybody,” he said. He said part of the hurt is the tension between father and daughter for the past two years. The people she's been living with is what triggered my dad's anger,” he said. Peter-Ali Almaleki said his sister is married to an Iraqi and lived with him in the Middle East until recently. He said his sister, after arriving in the U.S, moved in with a new man and his father didn’t approve. “The past two years she's been going out of her way being disrespectful and the person, the boy that is supposedly her boyfriend, now I don't like him,” said Peter-Ali Almaleki. And for a traditional Muslim family, he said that disrespect was the ultimate insult to his father. “Different cultures, different values,” he said. “One thing to one culture does not make sense to another culture.” “Just seeing her in the hospital just broke my heart,” he said. “Nobody should have to go through that.” Even though he doesn’t know where his father is, he said the family has heard from him. “He did call yesterday to ask how she was and my mom yelled at him and hung up,” he said. Police said Faleh Almaleki drove away from the scene Tuesday in a gray or silver 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with license plate No. ADS-9192. http://www.kpho.com/news/21416474/detail.html# |

POSTED: 8:59 pm MST October 31, 2009 ![]() Faleh Hassan Almaleki, Noor Faleh Almaleki PEORIA, Ariz. -- An Iraqi immigrant accused of running down his daughter with his car because she was becoming "too Westernized" was returned to Arizona Saturday to face aggravated assault charges. Faleh Almaleki was arrested Thursday when he arrived at Atlanta's airport, sent from the United Kingdom after authorities denied him entrance. He was returned to the Phoenix-area city of Peoria, booked and taken to a county jail. He is accused of striking and then running over his 20-year-old daughter and her boyfriend's mother with his Jeep on Oct. 20 as the women were walking across a Peoria parking lot. Noor Almaleki remains hospitalized in serious condition after undergoing spinal surgery. The other woman, Amal Khalaf, is in serious but stable condition, according to family members. Police said the Almalekis moved to Peoria from Iraq in the mid-1990s. Family members said Noor Almaleki had been living with her boyfriend and Khalaf, and Faleh Almaleki was upset that his daughter had become too "Westernized," had failed to live by traditional Muslim values and had disrespected the family. After the incident, authorities said Almaleki went to Mexico. He eventually flew to London, but United Kingdom Port of Entry authorities denied him entry into the country. They contacted U.S. authorities and Almaleki was put on a flight back to Atlanta, where he was arrested. http://www.kpho.com/news/21488488/detail.html# |

Iraqi woman, 20, dies; police in Arizona say father ran her over
November 2, 2009 ![]() (CNN) -- A 20-year-old woman from Iraq has died in an Arizona hospital, nearly two weeks after her father, police say, ran her over with a car because she had become "too Westernized." Noor Faleh Almaleki died Monday of injuries suffered when she was run over October 20 in a parking lot in the Phoenix suburb of Peoria, Arizona, police there said. Authorities said they expect to change the aggravated assault charge against her father, Faleh Hassan Almaleki, 48, to more severe counts after meetings with prosecutors, Peoria police announced. Peoria police said Faleh Hassan Almaleki believed his daughter had become "too Westernized" and had abandoned "traditional" Iraqi values. Peoria police spokesman Mike Tellef told CNN the family moved to the Phoenix area in the mid-1990s, and Almaleki was unhappy with his daughter's style of dress and her resistance to his rules. After the incident, Almaleki's father drove to Mexico, abandoning his vehicle in Nogales, Peoria police said. He then made his way to Mexico City and boarded a plane to Britain, where authorities denied him entry into the country and put him on a plane back to the United States, police said. A friend of the daughter, Amal Edan Khalaf, 43, also suffered serious injuries in the attack, police said. Almaleki faces a separate aggravated assault charge in connection with her injuries. He is currently held in Phoenix, with bail has been set at $5 million, Tellef said. http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/11/02/arizona.iraqi.dad/index.html |

Woman Allegedly Run Down by Dad Dies
By AMANDA LEE MYERS November 02, 2009 ![]() Faleh Hassan Almaleki PHOENIX (Nov. 2) - A young Iraqi woman whose father allegedly hit her with his car because she had become too Westernized died from her injuries Monday after laying in a coma for nearly two weeks. Noor Faleh Almaleki, 20, underwent spinal surgery and had been in a hospital since Oct. 20, when police say her father ran down her and her boyfriend's mother with his Jeep as the women were walking across a parking lot in the west Phoenix suburb of Peoria. The other woman, Amal Khalaf, is expected to survive. Faleh Hassan Almaleki, 48, fled after the attack but was arrested Thursday when he arrived at Atlanta's airport, where he was sent from the United Kingdom after authorities denied him entrance. Peoria police interviewed him and brought him back to Arizona over the weekend, but have declined to release what Almaleki said to them. At a court hearing over the weekend in Phoenix, county prosecutor Stephanie Low told a judge that Almaleki admitted to committing the crime. "By his own admission, this was an intentional act and the reason was that his daughter had brought shame on him and his family," Low said. "This was an attempt at an honor killing." Family members had told police that Almaleki attacked his daughter because he believed she had become too Westernized and was not living according to his traditional Iraqi values. Almaleki, wearing a jail uniform, said only his name and birth date during the hearing. He has declined requests to be interviewed. Almaleki had faced charges of aggravated assault, but Peoria police spokesman Mike Tellef said the charges will be upgraded in light of Noor Faleh Almaleki's death. Police said the Almalekis moved to Peoria from Iraq in the mid-1990s. http://news.aol.com/article/noor-faleh-almaleki-dies-after-being-hit/745717 |

If others in the family assisted him in committing the crime, they should either be imprisoned or deported.
What is there about American law do they not understand? |

That poor girl. The father, if he didn't want his daughter westernized, should never have come here. I hope he spends the rest of his life in jail for murdering his own child.
And I hope she haunts him every day. ![]() |
